Animals are found everywhere around us. It's interesting to note that in the taxonomic classification, humans and those we refer to as animals are clubbed within the same Kingdom of Animalia. In fact, our ancestor was an animal as well.

Which animal is it?

The animal I find interesting is a Chimpanzee. It's also known as the Chimp, the animal is native to forests of the African continent. Since I don’t come from Africa, all my knowledge and fascination about Chimpanzees comes from TV documentaries and research papers.

Why do you find them interesting?

Chimpanzees are interesting because they are the closest cousins of humans, we share about 98% of our genes. This is reflected in their intelligent behavior as they are considered capable of learning sign language. If you see a chimpanzee or read the studies on them, you might feel like they are probably one step away from becoming one of us.

What are some of their features?

They belong to the family of apes and walk on all fours. They grow up to be about 150 cm tall and weigh between 50-70 kg. Chimpanzees are known to have complex family structures. They are capable of making creative use of tools that benefit them. A female chimpanzee gives birth once every five years, making their population low and precious.

Animals are wonderful creatures, and they are all around us. Different animals are found in different environments and ecosystems. They come in all shapes, sizes, and colors much like humans yet so poignantly different.

Which animal is it?

I find Octopuses to be very interesting animals. It’s a marine life form, but we get to see octopuses in gigantic aquariums as well. The first time I saw an Octopus was in an Aquarium.

Why do you find them interesting?

I think Octopus is an interesting animal because it is terrifyingly intelligent. You would not expect a marine creature with eight limbs to be that crafty. They are known for solving tricky puzzles for food rewards. Scientists claim that this intelligence can be attributed to jumping genes that octopuses share with humans.

What are some of their features?

Well, an octopus is famously known for having eight limbs. Along with that, it has a rounded body, and bulging eyes and most of them live deep within the ocean. They can crawl on the ocean floor using their tentacles or swim by blasting off water from their siphon. When scared, like squids, they too shoot an inky liquid.

Animals are beautiful and they have so many types. Some settings are more favorable than others for animal sightings but if you have a pet, you can regularly see an animal. Wild animals remain a rare sight because they can't be domesticated.

Which animal is it?

A cat is an animal that I find interesting. They come in all shapes, sizes and colors. Some of them are fluffy like the Persian while others are not like the Sphynx. Some of them of are extremely tiny like a Singapura while others are huge like a Maine Coon.

Why do you find them interesting?

Cats are such a regularly seen animal as a stray or a pet that people don’t notice that they can be very athletic. A cat can jump up to six times its height and can run at 30 miles per hour. They give you a sense of adventure in the normal rhythm of life.

What are some of their features?

The Cats have four legs but 18 toes. A cat spends 70% of its life sleeping, and one year of a cat’s life is equal to 15 years of human life. There are about 500 million pet cats around the world but a domestic cat lives for about 16–17 years. Cats clean themselves up by licking.
