Topic: Advertising discourages people from being different individuals by making us all want to do the same and look the same. To what extent do you agree or disagree.

Band 8 IELTS Essay

Some people believe that because everyone wants to act and appear alike, advertising encourages indifference in people. Although I disagree with this viewpoint, I do think that advertisements have an impact on customer behaviour. There are two reasons why I disagree with the notion that advertising promotes people to be synonymous. Firstly, because there are many different brands and products, they must provide us with a variety of possibilities to improve the competency of their brands.

For instance, well-known brands like Gucci or Chanel may design a coat with unrelated colours, materials, designs, or textures. Products come in a variety of models and pricing ranges, whether they are from well-known or local brands. Second, the businesses advertise on a variety of channels, customers will necessarily have higher standards and critical evaluations of every product they use. They will look for feedback from a variety of sources, such as experts, customers, or influencers, before making any purchases. As a result, both businesses and consumers eventually seek out distinctive images. On the other hand, advertising does have an impact on public behaviour, particularly when it is successful in reaching its intended consumers. Even though every business has its own aesthetic, they all follow fashion and encourage their clients to do the same. Apple's iPhone series is a prime example of this. As the corporation was the first to introduce the rectangular-shaped and rabbit-ear notch design, inspiring other businesses to copy it. Additionally, a lot of advertising employs deceptive strategies that may impact viewers without their realising it. Companies began utilising delicate strategies like product placement, celebrity endorsement, or word-of-mouth recommendations as conventional tactics. Like the commercial break or classified ads no longer give equal values. Because of this, if individuals lack critical thinking skills and self-control, the media might be used to their advantage. To sum up, I firmly believe that even though customers are influenced by advertising, they can make intelligent purchases and project individual images.

Band 8.5 IELTS Essay

Advertising enhances and contributes to the enthusiasm surrounding the marketed goods. Since these advertisements determine what is considered to be beautiful, they have a significant impact on a person's allure. Whether intentionally or unintentionally, these make a lasting imprint on viewers' thoughts and persuade them to purchase these things. The person constantly attempts to be the person in the advertisement and ends up losing their own identity.

In the paragraphs that follow, I'll clarify my position and provide evidence for it. First of all, there are various forms of advertising, and each one aims to raise the product's ratings. The majority of advertisements are untrue and deceptive, which causes people to lose their sense of individuality and adopt a different temperament. They lose their identity and become into a carbon copy of the advertisement's subject. A number of regrettable occurrences have happened as a result of unethical publicity. Advertising has a lot of potential for good. But the reality is that many people are interpreting it incorrectly. Everything has advantages and disadvantages, but how we view them is entirely up to us. The promotion of the product and the financial gain are the only things on the minds of those who create advertisements. They always prioritise the advertising of their products in order to achieve the desired result. And others heedlessly follow their lead without giving any thought to their beauty or distinctiveness. Even if ads are essential to human development, losing one's identity and attempting to fit in with others is a serious problem. In conclusion, advertisements do significantly contribute to determining the present market trends. However, in my opinion, the manner that the general public views such commercials and the influence can vary from person to person. Therefore, it is crucial that these adverts are used intelligently and effectively to maximise client options. Rather than as a ruse to mislead them with incorrect information.

Band 9 IELTS Essay

Advertising is essential for influencing people. An image that can be associated with many people is created through effective advertising. Some people concur that the negative impacts of advertising may cause people to lose their unique identities. I think there are certain benefits to advertising, but I also think it can have negative impacts on a person's sense of self. To start, advertising has a way of readily influencing people, which might result in them losing their sense of self.

The fashion business has changed in recent years. The media today makes it easier for consumers to adapt to new fashions, which keeps them abreast of the most recent trends. They may be extremely different from their identity in terms of the fashion they are influenced by. Additionally, advertising may contribute to people losing their perspective. People often stop expressing their opinions as advertising develops a particular point of view. They merely follow the current fashion, which could have a negative impact on society. Because having a diverse society is always advantageous. Additionally, advertising fosters a materialistic worldview. For instance, it's now considered normal for people to have the best technology. The promotion of these products in various media stimulates consumer desire for them. People are persuaded to purchase these goods so they can blend in with society. On the other side, advertising promotes communication among people. Individuals may exert good influence by influencing their decisions in other ways. For instance, if alcohol usage is promoted with the negative impacts it has on health, the adolescent may be persuaded to consume less of it. In conclusion, advertising is essential for staying current with market developments. My opinion is that advertising may easily sway people, particularly young people, and can have negative impacts like losing one's identity. Therefore, it's crucial to use the advertising medium wisely.
