Advantages and Disadvantages of New Technology IELTS Writing Task 2 consists of three sample answers provided below. The task requires the candidates to provide a tentative and argumentative answer for the question. The sample answers comprises two parts: Introduction and body. The introduction is a brief description about the topic. The body contains argumentative statements and tentative answers to  support the test-taker's perspective.

It is true that modern technology has altered the way youngsters spend their free time today. While there are some advantages to this, I feel the disadvantages far outweigh them.

On the one hand, there are certain benefits to youngsters using new technology in their leisure time. To begin with, many youngsters like playing computer games, and these activities may aid in their cognitive development. Strategic games, for example, demand that players solve problems and cope with unexpected scenarios, thus children who play these games might improve their logical thinking and problem-solving abilities. Second, because the amount of material available on the Internet is vast and readily accessible, young individuals may benefit from early Internet exposure.

People who can use the Internet at an early age might begin their learning process sooner and, as a consequence, enhance their knowledge as they get older.

However, I would contend that the benefits listed above outnumber the drawbacks. One major disadvantage is that youngsters who like spending time in front of a computer screen are frequently unwilling to engage in physical activity. Low levels of physical exercise are more likely to lead to youngsters being overweight and, as a result, obese. Furthermore, some games lure players to play for hours on end, potentially leading to gaming addiction.

People may need to spend many hours in front of the computer in order to progress to higher levels in role-playing games, for example, and hence youngsters may spend an excessive amount of time on gaming.

To summarize, while there are some benefits to youngsters spending time with new technology, I believe the disadvantages outweigh the benefits.

Automation has a great level of efficiency and precision, but robots can only operate with the data they've been given, and they can't come up with fresh innovative ideas for the process.

Because hydropower is limited and seasonal, nuclear power and coal power plants were built to meet the electrical demand. As a consequence of contemporary technology, transportation was enhanced, and horse carts were replaced with diesel-powered motors. However, poisonous gas emissions from hydrocarbon burning and nuclear waste contribute to environmental degradation, which is a modern technological flaw.

As we've seen, contemporary technology has both advantages and downsides, as we've seen. As a result, we must understand how to utilize, where to use, and when to use new technology for the betterment of humans and other living beings.
