Band 8 IELTS Essay

I believe that living in a house has more advantages than living in an apartment. However, everyone does not have the same opinion. Some people prefer to live in a house, while others feel that there are more advantages to living in an apartment. In this essay, I will explain why living in an individual house has more advantages than living in an apartment.

First of all, one cannot build an apartment as per their wish. They need to buy an apartment already made by the engineers. Whereas, one can build their own house and create the design as per their wish. They can create the plan and increase the size of the room as per their wish. Suppose someone wants the kitchen and dining to be bigger. They can easily do that. However, if they go for an apartment, it becomes impossible to do so. An apartment is already created but while building a house, one can ask the technicians for any changes. Also, houses have their own privacy. In a gated apartment, many families live and spending quality time together and alone is not possible. This is not the case for houses. Because they do not have neighbors with whom to share common areas like hallways or staircases, homeowners enjoy greater privacy. In addition, having a beautiful garden may indicate a person's interest in gardening or the provision of a large enough play area for their children and pets. Owning a home can come with a number of drawbacks, including low security and higher upkeep costs, despite the benefits.

On the other hand, living in an apartment is also convenient. The main advantage is that living in an apartment makes you more secure than living in a house because you only have to worry about one entrance and building guards give you more security. However, the most significant disadvantage of a flat in a building, particularly a tower, may be a lack of independence.

If everything is taken into account, both ways of life have advantages and disadvantages. I believe that though houses have security issues, they are our own and built with love and care. Also, one can enjoy their time as per their wish in a house.

Band 7 IELTS Essay

Due to the recent pandemic, many people are re-evaluating their ideal living spaces right now. On one hand, a portion of people prefer to live in a house for the rest of their lives. A different segment of the population, on the other hand, believes that an apartment is more suitable for them. In this essay, the advantages of a house over individual houses will be contrasted with the potential for instability.

For instance, the COVID-19 pandemic made it more appealing to many people to go for a walk in their own backyard, which led to an increase in sales of detached homes. A detached house can also bring additional utilities and increase your independence from your neighbors. In addition, it is important for a family person to have additional space in which to spend time with their children. This is possible only in an independent house. As a result, people who have families or pets appreciate having their own home.

Having a home, on the other hand, comes with more risk than living in an apartment. Being in a smaller building or a tower block can reduce the likelihood of security issues. Stability is also decreased when structural repairs are made and the community is close-knit. For instance, in the tower block where I live, we are generally friendly to one another, and each neighbor contributes annually to cover building repairs. This compared to simple house maintenance, could be costly.

In conclusion, owning a home gives you more freedom to choose your own path and to enjoy large backyards, which are ideal for people with families or pets. A person or someone with less detached intentions may benefit from having a social environment and economic stability in an apartment.

Band 7.5 IELTS Essay

If someone is looking for a place to stay, it is essential to take into account the kind of house. Some people prefer to live in a house, while others believe that living in an apartment has more advantages. In my essay, I will explain the details and the advantages of living in house or an apartment.

The large size of a house is one of the most significant advantages over an apartment. One advantage is that household properties can be easily arranged without worrying about space. For instance, a house with three bedrooms can easily accommodate a family of five children, and the children will have more space to play in. When compared to the latter, it will be difficult for a family of the same size to live in such conditions. The children will not have enough space to play or move around in an apartment. I believe that there are more advantages of living in a house than the apartments.

The ability to have privacy is another advantage that houses have over apartments. This is due to the fact that you do not have to share the building with anyone else. For instance, you will make extensive use of the dining area, kitchen, refrigerator, and bathroom. In contrast, people who live in suites will have less privacy because they will have to share facilities with other people in the building.

In conclusion, I believe that the advantages of living in a house, such as increased freedom and private access to facilities, outweigh the disadvantages of living in an apartment.
