Band 6 IELTS Essay

Many people think that leisure activities should be detailed and planned thereby organising all the tasks that one might do in his/her free time. However, many others disagree with this view stating that leisure activities when are unplanned can turn out to be more fun and exciting. I agree with the latter view because I feel what I have wanted to do today, I would not want to do the next time. Further, I may not want to stick to a schedule which would basically become like my routine work. Scheduling work for leisure time simply makes it monotonous and boring. In order tp break the cycle of monotony, exploring completely different activities which I hardly am interested in but would love to find out about it, is what makes it exciting.

For instance, when a task is planned out even for the leisure work, it becomes important that the individual completes it. Whether it is cooking, cleaning or even reading a book, when the task is planned out, it seems important that the task needs to be completed within the time of leisure. However, it puts on pressure on the individual. Leisure time is meant for relaxing and having some quality time with self or with friends or family. One can explore diverse range of activities or even develop their own skills while doing leisure activities. It simply makes them more creative and activities happen with the flow. Leisure activities do not need to be planned out because that is what makes it exciting. Not having to know what might come next or how the next activity you do might turn out to be is what leisure activity is all about. However, the need for planning of their activities requires people to engage in organising all the tasks. Accordingly, one might need to jot down all the activities and complete it within a stipulated time. While some people find it exciting, many others feel that it kills the excitement and curiosity. One might find or want to do different activities on different days. He/she may plan it on spot to for instance, watching a movie or simply listening to music. Hence, in my opinion while people might find it interesting to plan their leisure activities, I love exploring different activities which is possible when I have not planned them out.

Band 6.5 IELTS Essay

Some people are of the view that it is important to arrange out their free time activities, whereas others choose to live more in-the-moment. According to my point of view, planning is a practical decision. But sometimes it becomes monotonous and boring. It will be helpful to release the stress and tension. But sometimes plans might not be implemented due to lack. Many psychologists recommend people to plan. Especially to those who love to get organized. They easily get anxious when they are unable to decide. The moment.

Planning might be beneficial for cuh people but for others it might be a disappointment. Many people try to plan even their leisure activities because they feel not planning their activities would waste their time. For example, activities like reading a book, drawing and cooking can be planned. These activities will give enjoyment and excitement. One can enjoy such activities while performing it. Planning might become a burden for some. For example, one of my friends loves to keep the day organized. But for her planning becomes more stressful sometimes one one runs out of time and tasks are still pending to be completed. It becomes a pressure and it might trigger anxiety and panic attacks. It is fine to plan at the moment. One can pass on the remaining tasks if one feels tired and exhausted. But by planning one feels under own restrictions which bound oneself. So, leisure time must be enjoyed at the moment. There should not be planning involved in the leisure time. One might feel like not doing anything sometimes. So it is beneficial to not stay organized sometimes. On the other hand, research by Columbia University stated that people who are more inclined towards planning their work are 70% more likely to acquire results which are positive. The leisure activities when planned becomes more affiminate for a person to be able to succeed in real life works as well. Accordingly, while unplanned leisure activities might be fun and exciting, in my opinion when things are planned and one works enough to complete those activities within their leisure time, it is the utmost satisfaction.

Band 7.5 IELTS Essay

Planning is an essential part of life. According to psychologists, planning is important as it reduces the tensions of the consequences. But there are many people of the opinion that planning must be done for the activities in leisure time. While others believe to not plan everything. I will be discussing both points of view in the essay below.

Planning makes a person stress-free. A person can carry out the tasks according to the planned schedule. Planning is done before all the major instances taking place in our lives. We often see common activities being planned like sports matches, exams etc. Planning is not for ourselves but also to divide the time accordingly. People like to live organized lives. To get the sense of organized and all sorted out they plan the activities they need to do in leisure time. It is also time saving. But over planning can be dangerous as well. One might get disappointed if the tasks did not go as planned. Also, planning leisure activities will destroy the fun of activities. One will focus on the unplanned and will not be able to do what he/she wants to do. Leisure time must be enjoyed accordingly. Activities should not be planned for leisure time. One must do what he/she feels to do at that particular moment. Because sometimes one doesn't feel like doing the activity planned before. It fulfills the planning but enjoyment is not experienced. For instance, if one plans to play football in leisure time but feels like playing indoors. This will result in disappointment to oneself. Significantly, research has shown that it is essential that individuals relax their mind and not work on a planned manner during their leisure time. A study by the Boston Research group has been able to conclude that in a place of work people who spend their leisure time unplanned came back more creative than others who planned. This is a typical idea that individuals need to relax their body and mind completely. When activities are planned out, it seems like work that needs to be completed within deadline.

To conclude, leisure activities should not be planned beforehand. It should be left at the moment to decide. It will make the activity more enjoyable. As, it will contain thrill and excitement in it. Also, it should be the decision of the person playing as to which activity to choose.
