A Letter To a Friend That is Visiting You in Regards to Being Certain Items IELTS General Writing Task 1 is a letter writing topic. Aspirants in this letter are required to address their necessity. Topic: Your friend is visiting you. You want her to bring certain items for you. Write a letter to her explaining the items you need and why. Also tell her the way to reach from the airport as you will be unable to pick her up. Also mention why you wouldn’t be able to receive her.

Dear Shobhan,

I’m very excited to meet you this weekend after so long. I have planned a lot of things that are to be done when we get together. However, recently I have shifted from my old location that you are familiar with.

Thus, I’m writing this letter to ask you to bring some necessities for my new house. I have heard the market near your workplace serves as a good spot for buying decoratives for houses. I would like you to bring me a wind chime, two-three photo frames and a few curtains as well. This will be a lot of help if you bring all these along with you.

Additionally, I deeply apologise for not being able to pick you up at the airport. The dentist and I have a scheduled appointment, and he is unable to change the time. But that doesn't really warrant alarm. You can easily get to my location. From the bus station at the airport, you must take bus number 1099. You will be dropped off on Shivaji Park Lane, at my front door.

Dear Rishu,

I’m so happy to hear the news that you are coming to my city. I would love to host you. My mother has been planning lists of dishes that you like and she will be preparing them for you. It has been so long since we met. I’m very excited for you to be here.

However, I need a favour from you. Could you please bring a few things from my list along with you? These include a few chocolates, and two wines. I know this is too much to ask, but there’s no necessity as such. If your luggage has the capacity for accommodating these things, you might consider bringing them. I always craved for some locally brewed wine from your location.

Moreover, I would also like to mention that due to some reasons, I won’t be able to pick you up from the airport. In order to reach my location, you need to catch a bus from the airport itself. The bus number is V1. I’ll tag my location in whatsapp, so when you land you’ll be able to easily find my home. After catching the bus, make sure you inform the driver to drop you off at Shakespeare Colony. From there, you can walk to my house which will take 10-15 minutes.

You coming to see me in Adelaide in March makes me incredibly happy. I've got a lot planned for us, and I'm looking forward to seeing you. I hope you've been doing well since we last spoke. It's been a long time. I hope it won't be too much of a hassle for you, but I have to ask you for a favour.

Before you take off for Australia, I'd really appreciate it if you could meet my mother so she can bring a few things for me. My grandmother sewed a wool cardigan for me as the first item. Both my grandmother and I have some sentimental values attached to it. You would also receive a few light books from my mother; don't worry. I require those books to finish my thesis. They weren't here, either. Last but not least, my mother would also give you a tin jar filled with homemade treats. She used to make for me as a youngster, including cookies and other sweets. They also hold personal and emotional worth for my mother and myself.

I sincerely hope it won't give you any issues. Send me your travel plans in the interim so I can make arrangements to meet you at the airport. We'll take a taxi back to my apartment and arrive there quickly.

I'm eager to visit you and hang out with you for a while.
