What the law would be?

I express my gratitude for this opportunity to speak on such a noble topic. The laws of a country reflect the aspirations of society. The legislated codes aim at meeting the contemporary issue. Without codes of conduct, society will lead to anarchy. With time the aspirations of the society are met and they are crafted in the codes, for instance prohibiting smoking in public places, strict use of seat belts while driving, and wearing helmets while riding a two-wheeler, ensuring punitive measures to the offenders who violate the legal code of the country. If I get the opportunity to legislate a new law it would be “Payment to housewives”.

What would be under this law?

This topic has often been in the news and is debated in many countries to which India too has not left untouchable. I am an advocate of such a law. This law will aim at converting the tasks of housewives into paid ones. This action should be viewed with the larger lens of promoting women and ensuring their financial security. This will burden the consolidated fund of the country but economists too are in favor of legislating such a code. There will be a strain on the consolidated fund but by injecting liquid into the economy by providing money to married women of the country will ensure the regulation of the economy. And according to a theory in the domain of Economics, it is said that, if the income of people increases then people spend more instead of increasing their savings.

How it would be benefit society?

If the cash in hand will increase then people will spend more leading to an increase in demand and to meet the demands the indigenous industries will flourish. The end goal of this law would not only to empower women but also to flourish the industries and connect the country with the global supply chain. Although, there are many barriers and restrictions on the path political will and noble intent can make this happen.

What the law would be?

Warm greetings, I am delighted with the opportunity to speak on the topic of law which I wanted to enact, through the cue card test. There are several laws enacted in the country by the legislature in India, the power to legislate in India is enshrined in the Parliament of India and State legislature, by the organic law of the country i.e. the Constitution of India. If I ever get the chance to legislate on a matter it would be “Prohibition of extortionate fees in the under graduation course” with aims and objectives to achieve the right to education which is coded in the Indian constitution under Article 21A.

What would be under this law?

For the same, the Amendment (Constitution) Act has to be passed increasing the compulsory education age from 14 years, which is presently guaranteed by the constitution to all the students pursuing undergraduate courses. The upper limit of age will be 25 years. By this law I’ll aim at ensuring the education security of the country and empowering the country as the advancement of a country is dependent on quality education and optimum healthcare facility. Quality education should not only be available to the children who can afford it but it is the duty of the state to ensure that quality education must be accessible and affordable to everyone.

How it would be benefit society?

But presently it is often seen that private institutions have institutionalized education into a cash cow. The rapid urbanization has led to a surge in the inflation rate, increasing the prices of all commodities and it would be too naïve of me if I say that college education is made available to all children for free. But we can reduce the tax on education, stationery products, and other associated commodities so the exorbitant fees charged by the private institutions will be reduced to a reasonable rate so that quality education is available to everyone who aspires to complete his/her graduation.

Good morning, before beginning the discussion I would like to thank you for this beautiful opportunity to speak on such a rationale topic. As we can see in the contemporary society of India that India is becoming a billion-dollar online economy and India is emerging as one of the great markets for e-commerce and online-based business. The covid-19 pandemic has increased the proximity of the same, in the near future the eyes of investors from all corners of the world would turn towards the Indian market. The race of capturing the Indian market has already begun but is halted by the gap created due to the pandemic. The Indian online market is subjected to flourish on the basis of laws a country has for protecting the data of its citizens. We cannot undermine the value of data; data is no less valuable than any precious commodity such as oil. If I get the opportunity to legislate a law I can, I will legislate the “Data Protection Law”.

What would be under this law?

This law will aim at protecting the data of e-users. India currently lacks one such law, owing to several challenges and political competitiveness. There are some genuine barriers that are needed to meet, like the question of how data will be kept inside the country, what will be the time limit of informing the user whenever there is a breach of privacy, and what would be fine to be imposed on the offender. Moreover, it will also ensure that the amount of data that is being shared sticks to the necessity of the requirement. It will restrict the over-sharing of data and information.

How it would be benefit society?

Once this law is enacted the European Union will provide access to the financial data of their citizens. The Data Protection Law will ensure India's global power aspirations.
