A Complaint Letter about a Faulty Device IELTS General Writing Task 1 is a letter-writing topic. Candidates are required to address the Store Manager on this topic in a formal tone. Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing this letter to complain about the writer we had in our office. I purchased a wireless router from your store two months ago. But it has suddenly stopped working. I am unable to work without the internet as I have to work from home. I am hoping that you replace or repair this wireless router as soon as possible. The Alpha AC1720 dual-band Wi-Fi router that I purchased from your store was operational till last week. But it is not working at the current time. I cannot diagnose the actual problem of this router. Initially, I tried fixing it, but the malfunctioning is beyond my reach. I tried a similar router that I borrowed from a friend expecting it to work. As I mentioned that I am a freelancer, working from home, and my work totally depends on the interrupted and stable internet connection. I have several projects ongoing and I have to meet the deadlines to complete those. I do not want to upset my clients. As I am totally dependent on this equipment to get a stable internet connection, I need the router to be fixed immediately. I wish you either replace the device or provide me with a new one within the next 1 to 2 days.

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing this letter to complain about a brand-new printer that I bought from your departmental store. I bought this printer a month ago. The salesman in your store suggested this to be the best printer in the store. But unfortunately, this art equipment which is cost-effective has stopped working. The printer was a newly launched one, it is a compact inkjet with all the necessary features. The printer is also slow but the duplex print and photocopy stack up to 50 pages.
As you know my work is bound to copy and print hundreds and hundreds of contracts and work-related documents. I thought the printer would make Mike work easier to get a better quality print. But the printer had suddenly stopped working at its best. I would like you to offer suggestions so that I can get a new printer replaced with up-to-date features. Or you can offer me a new printer in lieu of this. I would adjust the money and if required would add money for a new one. As the sprinter is essential equipment for my day-to-day office work, I need this printer to be corrected and replaced within 2 to 3 days.

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing this letter to complain about my recent purchase of a Dell laptop from your store. Three months ago I purchased this laptop, but now it has suddenly stopped working.
I really need this laptop to work as I am a work-from-home employee and my entire work is dependent on this laptop. I am hoping that you repair or replace this Dell laptop soonest. There are quite a few specific problems, the laptop screen does not show anything. The laptop screen is a black screen with some blue dots on it. It worked fine till yesterday but I believe it’s a dysfunctional problem. I have also checked the battery and power connection and also tried all sorts of solutions that can be done for me. I also realize the laptop while switching on is making a weird noise. But I could not find any reason for this.
Also, my purchase number is 3244785, and I am attaching a copy of my receipt with this letter. As I mentioned that I am a freelancer and I have a few projects running that need to be finished by the end of this month. If my laptop doesn’t work I would be unable to fulfill the promised work for my clients. Besides this laptop contains important files that I have already worked on and are in progress hence repairing this laptop must not delete those work. Since I have a valid warranty period, I need this device to be fixed immediately. And also hoping that you would be able to reply and repair it within 2 to 3 days otherwise I want a new laptop in replacement.
