IIT Kanpur CAT Cut off 2025: Check Qualifying Cut off and MBA Admission Process

IIT Kanpur is expected to start the application process for MBA admission 2025-26 from January 2025. This year, the CAT 2025 exam will be held on November 30, 2025. The CAT registrations are set to begin on August 1, 2025. The results are likely to be released in January, 2026. Candidates with 65% (55% for reserved) in all academic performance and 80 percentile (55 percentile for SC/ST) percentile or above in CAT 2025 are eligible to apply. The application fee is INR 1600 (INR 800 for SC/ ST/ DAP).

• The expected CAT 2025 sectional CAT cut off for admission to IIT Kanpur is 50 percentile for VARC, DILR and QA. 
• The General Cut off is 85% along with EWS and OBC-NCL. For SC and ST, the cut off is 75%. 
• The course fee of IIT Kanpur MBA is nearly INR 9.28 lakh, payable in installments, semester wise.

IIT Kanpur MBA Admission through CAT 2025: Eligibility Criteria

IIT Kanpur has laid down specific category-wise eligibility criteria for the candidates seeking admission to its MBA program. It is mandatory to appear for CAT 2025 exam to be eligible for the exam.

Eligibility Criteria for General/ EWS/ NC-OBC Candidates

• Minimum qualifying CAT 2025 Cut off is 80 percentile.
• Candidates should have a B.E/ B.Tech/ B.Arch degree with Maths as one of the subjects in class 12, or a 4-year degree leading to B.Sc Engineering, or M.Sc or MA Economics with Mathematics as one of the subjects in the UG program.
• The graduation or post-graduation degree should be from any AICTE recognized institution, IITs, NITs, or IIITs.
• Candidates must have obtained at least 60% marks or a CPI of 6.0 on a 10-point scale at the qualifying degree level.

Eligibility Criteria for SC/ ST Candidates

• Minimum qualifying CAT 2025 Cut off is 55 percentile.
• Candidates should have a B.E/ B.Tech/ B.Arch degree with Maths as one of the subjects in class 12, or a 4-year degree leading to B.Sc Engineering, or M.Sc or MA Economics with Mathematics as one of the subjects in the UG program.
• The bachelor's or master's degree should be from any AICTE recognized institution, IITs, NITs, or IIITs.
• Candidates must have obtained at least 50% marks or a CPI of 5.0 on a 10-point scale at the qualifying degree level.

Eligibility Criteria for Final Year Students

Candidates in their final year of study can also apply. However, their admission will be confirmed only if they meet all the criteria of the qualifying degree before joining the MBA program.

IIT Kanpur MBA Admission Process includes 4 stages.

• Stage 1: Candidates who meet the eligibility criteria mentioned above need to fill out the application form on the official website- iitk.ac.in
• Stage 2: Candidates will first be shortlisted on the basis of their CAT scores and eligibility norms. Only one shortlist will be released. 
• Stage 3: Shortlisted candidates will then be called for GD-PI rounds.
